The Cross-border Geopark proposes a wide variety of geologically-related hiking itineraries that will make it possible for you to admire and get to know more about the many geological peculiarities in this area.
Geotrails
A geotrail is a geological tour with several stops where you can see some peculiar aspects of the area. By activating the research filters, it is possible to find the itinerary that most satisfies your curiosity or skills: from the long-distance trails, following demanding paths (never of a mountaineering nature), to proposals entailing short strolls through valley bottoms of a more touristy nature (according to the CAI – Italian Alpine Club - classification and to the ÖAV - Österreichischer Alpenverein - classification).
For each itinerary, the data sheet provides a detailed trail each single geostop, locations in which it is possible to observe the peculiar geological characteristics of the area. Moreover, the necessary equipment, the most suitable period in which to visit and the relative altitude are specified.
Choose your geotrail by bearing in mind your skills and always take care to wear appropriate clothing and take the right equipment with you!
Visitor centers and museums
In the Geopark area you can visit many museums and permanent exhibitions, to get to know more about the extraordinary geological and palaeontological heritage of the area, and Visitor Centres devoted to the experimentation and sensoriality, in which it is possible to have in-depth knowledge of some of the topics characterising the local area, that will therefore be able to be observed during the course of guided or independent trips.
